Pyxis: The Discovery (Pyxis, #1) by K.C. Neal

I've heard so much about this book that I just wanted to love it. But I just don't... it's a good story and there's definitely parts where I was completely absorbed and didn't notice my music changing from song to song. But then there was the main character is is so very self involved but tries to be selfless, like this for example
"Some people might stick it in the microwave for a few seconds but not me."
Ah, so...
and then there was this line
"I bit my lips to stifle a snicker and handed the flask back to Mason."
Why would you want to be proud of the fact that you are drinking behind your supposed Best Friends back while she is being kind enough to drive your lazy ass to the dance. In the end I was tired of Corinne but I love Mason, I feel sorry for Angeline. The part I would be looking forward to the most is Angeline's relationship... not really the rest of the story.
I think to much hype ruined the story for me. K.C. Neal's writing is amazing and she weaves a great story, it just wasn't mine today.

The MOVIE!!! We saw it Friday and it was.... fantastic and well lots of things.

They followed the story perfectly. It was so beautiful! (in the fact that they followed the story... how many director's actually do that!) The people they choose were perfect! My favourite being Caesar Flickerman played by Stanley Tucci
I will definitely be seeing this in theatres again. I just have one disappointment... and that is the quality - grainy scenes, shaky camera syndrome, way to many trees. But I decided to focus mainly on the story and not the quality to which it was brought to life and that is where they did a fantastic job.

MY Book Lover Friend got me this pen too! Which I tweetered about because it was just so fantastic!!
Oh, and check out MovieBob's review of the Hunger Games... as much as it's kinda annoying, I still love what he says about names, and then how he says Katniss Everdean.

Hunger Games Tonight!!!

LS: The Beginning by Kelvin O'Ralph
A handshake between strangers has never held so much promise for discovery.
When Stephen Wilson meets Lisa Morgan at his new school in Sloutenville, it is the simple act of extending his hand in greeting that flips both of their worlds upside-down. With the gesture, both discover that in some way they are connected, and that they share the ability to manipulate the elements, fire and water. Though their abilities vary, they share the gift of telepathy allowing them to communicate without words, which creates a bond between them stronger than either had expected.
As the two begin to spend more and more time together, David, Lisa's ex becomes wild with jealousy, launching multiple attacks on Lisa. In the fight against the dangers that await them around every corner, Stephen and Lisa soon discover that they are up against much greater odds than they had originally known, and that their struggles are far from over
I started this book two weeks ago. And I just can not get into it. The story line sounds so interesting but I just can not relate to the main characters... probably has something to do with the fact that he feels like a self-absorb teenage boy pretending he is not. I am sure it's a good story and I maybe try to pick it up again, but right now I think I will move on.

Fever by Lauren DeStefano
OWN hard cover (bought at Chapters)

I have been trying to get my hands on Fever since it came out February 21st. And now I have finished it in less than 12 hours because it is that good. First the hardcover is gorgeous pink! Second we met Rhine again. The thing with books is usually the characters run away and everyone leaves the story at that, no one writes about what happens after the big escape. Or how the characters survive in their new world. So I am very happy that DeStafano picked up right where the last book left off.

AND then I finished it and I have been debating on what else to write. It's a WOW book and totally depressing at the same time. I am not sure how I feel about it yet. This is what I wrote on the Proud Book Nerd review of Fever

Chapters finally had it and I just finished it. Literally finished minutes ago. I have to agree the book is very depressing and doesn’t have much hope, the end is incredible and the cover has so much significance to the story.
Your reviews always sum uo what I am feeling really well. TTYL
I liked the book I like the story, but something is missing... I think it's maybe the ending... the happily ever after. Rhine is not okay yet, Rowan is not okay yet, we don't even know how Gabriel is doing.

Lauren DeStefano is brilliant at weaving emotions and making you feel everything Rhine is. It's brilliant... Can't wait for book three! TTYL! I am off to find info on book three!

Shadow of the Sun by Laura Kreitzer (Timeless Series Book #1)
My first thoughts... not a fan of the cover.... my next thoughts - within the first six chapters I am already confused. In one  line she says "No we aren't some mythical creature sent from some almighty god." and the next "I'm sworn to protect you. I'm your guardian angel, of course." I feel that throughout the story there was many conflicting lines and after a bit I just decided to ignore the conflict and enjoy the characters. Once I did that I really started the book.

There were some great parts to the book, but overall I think the main character annoyed me to much. She was so self involved. She didn't have to fight they were there to forget her and then they go on to say she doesn't have to sacrifice anymore because she has already given up so much to protect her friends. But I feel all she did was learn that her reality was not what she had always thought. The most she did was take some charge when they were escaping. As much as the story was a complete cliffhanger I enjoyed the last few pages more than the rest of the book. She stood up and became was she should have been. If that makes sense.

The only other thing I have to mention is her relationship with Andrew. While at first I really liked it, it soon became way to obsessive. I usually don't like instant fall in love, in this case it worked at the beginning but got drawn out and way overdone. It actually annoyed me, how he was a perfect gentleman but ... gah

All in all I am definitely finding book number two. I want to see how our main character finishes the battle.

Vol 8 Random thoughts while reading (for manga I think it would be easier to review if I keep track of my thoughts while reading it. Instead of trying to write something up when I am finished and not give the story away.)

Finnian - what does S-012 mean? what injections?

Poor little Wendy, her outfit is actually the one I would love to see in colour. You get a tiny peek on the back of the vol but it's not up close or detailed.

I would seriously like to know if the flour theory is right? You have flour tossed into the air of a room and you throw a match in will it go KABOOM?
It's so nice to see the Phantomhive hired help in action. I wonder what their specialities are? I like how wiki explained each characters speciality but it goes past the manga that has been published so it kinda ruined it for me. Plus I am refusing to watch the anime because I want to keep the surprise in the book and as much as I hate waiting it is fun to have something to look forward to!

Grim Reapers have strange weapons!

Ciel and Elizabeth's Easter Outfit are so cute! I would love to have something hand tailored one day!

AND I love the ending!! Perfect! TTYL! Happy Reading!

Cover Thoughts: Perfect
Review: I honestly don't remember what made me click that request button on NetGalley. I most certainly was not expecting the story I got. Usually I hate surprises like that, but this time I was so sucked in, I read it in one night.

Olivia is at her lowest point when we are introduced to her. And the thing that sets her off, I could totally see seeing as small and insignificant as that setting me off too. I actually do have some days where I am having a great day and just one thing ruins the entire moment. But I can't believe how much of a robot Olivia became. I have never met anyone who was so numb to everything. I wish someone had been there and been strong for her. While I have never been that low I most certainly related to her especially when she met Jude
This person looked healthy, content. She filled out her clothes and had thick, shiny hair and a fuller face. She didn't have dark circles under her yes or sunken cheeks. Her skin was a blend of peaches and pinks instead of a sickly grey. This woman was... pretty, I had to admit.
I don't really want to say much more. But Mr. is my Jude and this is my favourite part that I will probably remember for a very long time
"Do you..." I swallowed, "believe in angels?" She glanced at me somewhat quizzically, but not so much I regretted asking.
"Yea" she answered. "I do. Then, :Why, don't you?" I stared back at her feeling slightly lost. "I... I don't know. I've never really believed in any of that... stuff." Jen nodded. "I guess, for me, it makes more sense for them to be real than to not be."
"Why's that?"
She thought for a minute. "I'm not sure. In my mind, it's more believeable that there's some greater power up there who created everything, than to think there was a big explosion and bam, here we were. Or that after we die, that's it, there's nothing more, just an empty void. I just can't believe that. So it's logical to me that if there's a God, and there's heaven, then there must be angels."

One city of 600,000 people.

One broken girl.

One mysterious boy.

One fateful night,

Two worlds collide.

Seattle, Washington. The sprawling, industrious city set in a blanket of pine. I have never known a day that wasn’t spent inside this concrete jungle. It’s my home, and for that I love it. But it’s also the setting for the tragedy called my life, and so I loathe it.

I live alone in a cold, empty studio apartment. The tiny square room closely resembles a cell. That’s my life: solitary confinement.

Here, in this desolate place that perfectly reflects my soul, my story begins.

I stared at her, totally caught off guard. What kind of therapy was this? My face felt hot and I'm sure it was visible on my cheeks. I stared at my lap and stuttered something completely unintelligible.

Vol 7 more about Noah's Ark Circus. Sometimes I wish I could just see the art in colour, it is so pretty! This vol is full of both elements of the book. One part was very light and fun, but still had an underline note of seriousness. The other part was extremely dark and bloody. I do not understand the line of thinking of the madman in this story, other than he became obsessive with being beautiful to fit in with the Phatomhive family. And if I am understanding this right Baron Kelvin is in the one responsible for the young master's eye. But that wasn't actually fully explained.

Thankfully I already have Vol 8 on my desk, so I am off to read it! Hopefully I will be able to order Vol 9 right away!

Oh also, I think this is my least favorite of covers. The rest of the books have all been pictures of Sebastian and Ciel and now we have this one of a randomly different character. I would have preferred a close up of Ciel with his eye patch or something.
