Phantom, part 1 of Thirst book two

What an interesting story this is turning into. And what to type that doesn't give away anything. Lots of unexpected things happened in this book.

There was one twist in this book that I usually hate reading about. But it worked very well in this book. Interestingly though the original Phantom was published in 1996 (at least that's what I found) and Twilight just come out. Parts of Twilight feel like a complete copy of this book (mainly just this part of the series). Christopher Pike came out with a good thing and then Stephanie Meyers ruined it with her disaster of a book series.

I read this one pretty quickly too, just like the others. I like that they are small and easy reads. I am not a fan of the cover the No 2 of Thirst. The girl reminds me to much of the Sookie Stackhouse from True Blood.

Seymour is still definitely my favorite character and I think that will grow in the next book. Because hopefully he will be in the next book more than he has the last 4. Fingers crossed and on to the next one!

Happy Reading!

Red Dice, part three of Thirst

The last section of book #1.

So much blood and gore and gambling. An interesting combination, it's a good thing bloody doesn't make me queasy. I definitely won't read this series if blood made you sick. That would be a bad combination.

I know I have said this for each review, but I just don't know if I like the way the story is written. I think I do not like it, it's annoying. I would prefer a more story like way to it. But with the way it si written the effect of the story is bigger. It feels almost real, almost possible, you sitting there feeling like it's a true story, but knowing that it's not.

But at the same-time, I sat watch the twin towers burn to the ground feeling like it wasn't actually happening, but it did... do you understand my conflict?? I have no idea how to explain it right.

I really enjoyed Sita's flash backs in this part. Her story is so sad. I would like to know more about Sita's powers. And how things worked, maybe in book 2 they will explain that more. There isn't really anymore characters in this book. Sita is very much in her own head the whole story.

And as always the story just ends leaving you crying for me!! Thank goodness I have the next book already!! :) Happy Reading!

Black Blood, part two of Thirst

Interesting how the ending of both are very similar. Actually the story ends basically the same as it did in part one. But then I think I might be getting the two stories confused already. Because the part I am thinking of probably happened at the beginning of part two.

Anyways I am not making much sense. I still can't decided if I like how this story is written. From Sita's perspective as if she is telling us the story. But I do like the fact that it feels like someone telling you a REAL story and not just a random story.

I didn't enjoy the characters as much in this part. Mainly because the characters didn't get developed much other than Sita and many of the characters were mean or cruel. The ending though I am not sure I liked at all. But I can't really say without giving it away.

Part three starting soon!!

The Last Vampire, part one of Thirst book one.

This story is written from an interesting perspective. Sita or Alise Perne or which ever of her names you would like to call her, is telling her own story in her own words to you. It's like listening to a storyteller except that you are reading.

At times it's a little annoying because she gets a little side tracked in her story at times. But it makes it more realistic. Even though it was annoying it made the whole story more honest. Almost like the whole thing was actually real like a biography instead of fiction.

My favorite character in the story so far is Seymour and I can not wait to see what happens with his storyline. I almost shouldn't be doing a review for part one. It's only 81 pages long But here it is and I can't wait to start the next book!

Ready or Not, book 2

Just a series of two... My thoughts.

Well I am actually kinda annoyed. But I don't want to start with that. I loved this book. Sam was an annoying character but growing and learning and accepting. She accepts everything and everyone for who they are, without trying to judge for the most part.

The story line is fun and it's a simple easy read that's refreshing. I love the politic points made in the book. I don't pay attention to politics, but the book makes you realize that it's really important to listen to politics because sometimes the things they want to do aren't actually what they should be doing.

The main political issue in the book focus's on birth control and needing your parents permission to get it. Which I don't agree with. If a kid wants it, she should have access to it so there isn't unplanned pregnancies. So along with birth control is the whole big topic of SEX. Done in a very well put way.

SPOILERS

The whole book is Sam's inner struggle with sex. I enjoyed the inner struggle. What I didn't like was that in the end she still had sex with David. But it was done in a very well written way (plus there's no descriptions which was fabulous!) that if they hadn't had sex I would have been just as unsatisfied with the book as I am now. Meg Cabot though I think got her point across, because the book really got me thinking. And I enjoy thinking books.

I am very glad that there is only the two books to the series. I think I third would be pointless, but I did quiet enjoy Sam as a character. And her David remembers me allot like my Mr.

Great book and I will probably re-visit this series in a year or two.

Ark Angel, book six

I am starting to get a little frustrated with the Alex Rider series. It was nice at the beginning but it was realistic in the beginning. This one, not so much.

SPOILER

First off he is shot at the end of the last book. This book starts ten days later, after major surgery, he is running around swinging huge containers full of air at bad guys. He would have some function in his arm after being shot, but not enough strength to do that. Then there's the fact that after the hospital incident and the fire none of his stitches break. Seriously he's doing all these crazy stunts, that even when your one hundred percent health would knock you back. And he's doing it 10 to 15 days after being short 1/2 in from the heart!

Then there's the gadgets. I suppose that the books aren't trying to be realistic anymore... just trying to out do James Bond. Oh and he never actually kills anyone. People always die but it's always an accident. Like this one where the guy is in the space ship and Alex kicks him and the guy goes floating back and hits his own knife and is stabbed in the head!

I believe there is only one book left in the series. But I think I will wait a while to read it. Need to a break from silly stunts.

This isn't really a great review of the book. The other 5 were much better.

Once I start reading something so good. I just can't stop! I love reading. I love getting so involved in a story it's the only thing I can think about. And that is why I love the House of Night series. Seriously I just start reading and I can't stop!! And then I hit the end!! Now I must review the book for you and wait for the next one to be released!! I shall be very impatient for the next release! :)

Burned, definitely the most action filled exciting book. I think my favorite. But it's been a while since I've read all the books. So I can't guarantee that. However, I LOVE all the references to fire in this book, from the title, to the meaning of fire - the cleanse of all evil, kind of thing.

Stark and Heath are definitely great characters and the last few chapters with the two of them are pretty awesome. I would love to see the island that the Cast Author's describe! So beautiful!! How they find these places and describe them so wonderfully is ... well a gift. I certainly can not write like that.

One random thing I liked about the book was the reference to the TV show Glee!! That was so random and funny!! I also would love to have seen Aphrodite's face when she saw the chart everyone had created!

But now I am getting into spoilers. This is really a great series!! :)

Awakened Release date January 4 2011!!

Book #6,

It's been a really long time since I have read any of these books! I can't believe I wait this long to finish the series.

At first starting to read this I just wasn't into it. I have been enjoying so many other books I didn't really want to go back to vampires. But once I was about 20 chapters in. I remembered why I enjoy this series so much. It's a really good quick read with lots of excitement. I find P.C. Cast writes very differently with her daughter. It's almost like the book was simplized. If that makes sense.

Zoey was herself. I enjoyed when she got mad at everyone. Sure it was a bit mean and unjustified, but it was nice she finally told everyone exactly what she was thinking. Because she is always so worried about what others think, it's kinda annoying.

Stevie Rae ... well as much as I didn't enjoy her giving into everything Zoey liked in the other books. She really kind of annoyed me this book, with all her secrets. It's frustrating when she should be able to trust her friends with everything even if they don't agree with her. I can't see things turning out well when her secrets come out.

But I don't really know how to say much else without giving away spoilers. If I haven't already!! Fabulous book and I am ready for the next one!!

BTW I won't start reading this without having the last book Burned nearby. The ending is a killer.

The Ugly Duckling
by Hans Christian Anderson

I've never read this story. It was rather interesting. Very true now-a-days. But I don't think we publicly announce that someone will be bullied (at least I hope we don't) because they aren't beautiful in our eyes. I do think we whisper it behind people's backs.
I didn't enjoy this part of the ending
"He actually felt glad about all the suffering and hardships he had endured. Now he could appreciate his happiness and all the loveliness that awaited him."

Feels a bit unrealistic. I don't think anyone would be glad for torture or bullying. I do think a person comes to terms with it, eventually. Anyways it was a interesting quick read.

Found while sitting in Chapters glancing through a book called Inspirations Selections from Classical Literature by Paulo Coelho - The Water Section.

Infinite Days by Rebecca Maizel

COMMENT
Rebecca Maizel is a very good author. But I can't decided whether or not I like this book. The story was fabulous. I loved some of the characters. Like Tony and Rhode, definitely my favorites. But neither of them were in the book much :(

Lenah, well it's such a pretty name. How would you pronounce it though? I am horrible at pronunciation! (thank god for spell check too!) As a character though she kinda frustrated me. I think though that's because I couldn't completely understand why she wanted to be human. The vampires in this book are a bit different from other books. These vampires experience great pain if they do not inflict pain on others. Which makes sense. But I just don't get the thought process. If that makes sense.

Tony was a brilliant character and I really wish I could see his art work!! :)

Anyways this was a good book and I really enjoyed it but I probably won't read it again. Actually I am sitting in Chapters as I write this review up and a girl just asked me if I liked the book. And because I was conflicted I gave her the book!! Random but I like giving my books away and hopefully she will enjoy it!

Happy Reading!

Scorpia, book 5

Alex Rider... you finally learn all the answers to his questions. He learns about his past and betrayal. It's the most interesting book of the series and I enjoyed it allot more. In the first books Alex hardly talked to anyone, he was always out on his own doing his own thing. In this book, he is with people, doing things with people. There is conversations, that Alex is involved in that doesn't happen when he's been caught.

The ending however, sucked... blah. It better not be anything like the ending of book 2. I hope that he finishes this story line, because I am still annoyed with the cloning thing from book 2.

But I am excited for the next book of this series, mainly because of the way it ended. Happy Reading!

How to describe this book!

At first I didn't like it. It actually annoyed me and I wasn't sure I was even gonna try and finish reading it. I decided though to give it another try, because I keep remembering a review I read about the book. So I sat down and FINISHED IT!! What a great book!

I simply love SAM! What a great character. Actually Grace, Sam, Olivia, and Beck are all really great characters that I enjoyed. I can not wait to read Linger.

Amazing book, and I am glad I bought it!!

Sorry this isn't much of a review. It's just a great book, that you should definitely read!

I have seen this book all over the internet. Alyson is also the author of The Immortals Series.

Riley Bloom left her sister, Ever, in the world of the living and crossed the bridge into the afterlife—a place called Here, where time is always Now. Riley and her dog, Buttercup, have been reunited with her parents and are just settling into a nice, relaxing death when she's summoned before The Council. They let her in on a secret—the afterlife isn't just an eternity of leisure; Riley has to work. She's been assigned a job, Soul Catcher, and a teacher, Bodhi, a curious boy she can't quite figure out.

Riley, Bodhi, and Buttercup return to earth for her first assignment, a Radiant Boy who's been haunting a castle in England for centuries. Many Soul Catchers have tried to get him to cross the bridge and failed. But he's never met Riley...

I really enjoyed this book. It was the quick easy read that I needed. But it was a really easy read. So easy in fact that there is one thing that kinda bothered me. In the middle of the book, she randomly throws in this word "discombobulated". Actually I am not even sure it is a word. But it stands out so much because I feel like it doesn't fit the rest of the novel.

Once I got over that fact, it's a great quick read. Good story that keeps your attention. I really enjoyed Riley as a character. Even though she is only 12, I could understand things from her perspective. I could see why she would be upset. Her good deed was very interesting and her train of thought interesting. I think the reason she succeed is because of her age.

At the age of 12 you are told you can do anything and everything. That nothing can hold you back. It's once you hit high school you start getting told that things don't happen magically. I am looking forward to the next book in this new series. Even though I am slightly annoyed I am starting another series, the book didn't end horribly. Actually it was a great ending and I am surprised there is a second book coming.

Oh, and how do you pronounce Bodhi?? Such a neat name, but how would you say it??

Happy Reading!!

First book of September Spectacular!

Alysia of Athens, pampered daughter of a wealthy physician, is taken from her home and sold into slavery when her father is accused of treason during the turbulent reign of Tiberius Caesar. She is purchased by Paulus Maximus, a powerful Roman legate who pierces through her determination to hate her captors, but his jealous stepbrother, Lucius, forces her to run away...across the sea to the battle-torn land of Palestine, where she finds love and acceptance, and meets a man who will change her life forever. But in her flight from the intrigues of Rome to the palaces of Jerusalem, Alysia finds she cannot escape her enemies, neither the one who stole her heart, nor the one who wants to destroy her
I am not sure what I expect from this book. But I sure didn't expect what I got. I usually base my whole opinion on a book on the cover. If I like the cover I will read it or try to. Usually this works for me. I very rarely actually read the back of the book. Last time I did this, it did not serve me well, but this time! WOW what a book.

This book is based on the bible. And I am so curious just how closely it is to the bible. I won't be surprised if allot of what's written is actually quotes from scripture. Now I usually hate books that are about the bible. But this book didn't feel like it was preaching at me to covert at all. It was just a story about a woman.

I simply love the name Alysia! It is so beautiful! She is also an amazing character, what she goes through and her attitude. I don't think I would be anything like her, I would definitely act a whole lot more spoiled.

The book goes through the Crufixation of Christ. Very detail and a little gory. But it was neat to see a deep sense than what the bible teaches you. And you could feel the emotions of the people watching and you don't get that feel in when you read the bible. It was very deep. I didn't cry but was close. It was so neat and almost a joy to see things explained the way the book did. My religious upbringing was very strict and you couldn't play with words or use your imagination. But it was refreshing do read something so open and honest about the Crufixation of Christ compared to what I am use to.

I am kinda hesitant to post this because, even though I really enjoyed the book. I am definitely not converting back to Christianity. But if you would like a refreshing look at Christ, this is a good book for it. Wasn't preachy preachy, which is exactly what I needed. I think I will look for more books by Debra Diaz.
